UNESCO Board Votes for Palestinian Membership

Jerusalem World News:  The board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has voted overwhelmingly in favor of granting full membership in one of the UN’s most important bodies to the Palestinians. The move by UNESCO was widely and correctly seen as another attempt to achieve what the Palestinians want without their having to negotiate with Israel. Though membership in UNESCO is not a legal status, it is yet another step in the campaign of isolation against Israel.

Israel’s Foreign Ministry decried the move as yet another sign that the Palestinians have no intention of negotiating for peace and statehood. “This move negates the efforts of the international community to advance the political process. A decision like this will not advance the Palestinians in their aspirations to statehood,” the ministry said. We need to sound the alarm now more than ever. Will you stand in the gap for Israel today? The prophet Isaiah wrote of hearing God’s question: “Whom shall I send and who will go for us?” Isaiah answered, “Here am I, send me.” What will your answer be today?
