The Sign of Anti-Semitism Is on the Rise

04/12/2010 21:32

It’s been around for centuries and sort of found its high during the Hitler regime. Simply stated, it is prejudice against or hostility towards Jews, often rooted in a hatred of their ethnic background, culture, and their religion: Judaism.  Even Martin Luther expressed a certain level of anti-Semitism when he attributed the death of Jesus to the whole Jewish race. Catholic popes and the whole Catholic system have fundamentally supported a level of anti-Semitism.

Jesus said it would happen:

“Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake.” (Matthew 24:9).

I know some people will say that Jesus is talking about Christians, but keep in mind that this whole discourse is about the people of Israel. I believe the church will be gone and that the final Week of Daniel, this last seven years called the tribulation, is God’s final dealings with His people Israel. The church will by this time have been already caught away or raptured.

Anti-Semitism isn’t an overnight process and it has gained and waned over the years. We now see an increase in Anti-Semitism in the world.

Hungary’s Jews are surprised and worried about an openly anti-Semitic party gaining electoral success in recent elections according to the Jerusalem Post. This party campaigned openly accusing Jews with causing their country’s economic downturn. This rhetoric is an echo of Hitler’s message. Hungarian Jews are concerned about the increase in this anti-Semitic trend.

Virtual Jerusalem reports that an annual report by the Stephen Roth Institute for the Study of Contemporary Anti-Semitism and Racism at Tel Aviv University says that anti-Semitism is the highest it has been in at least twenty years. According to the report, anti-Semitic incidents have risen sharply in 2009.

As the current US administration (see Prophecy Dude's blog "Is President Obama Anti-Semitic?") takes a harder look and posture against Israel, a recent Gallup Poll survey reports that only 48% of US Democrats support Israel, but 85% of US Republicans indicate they support Israel. This becomes ironic when you consider the fact that most American Jews consider themselves Democratic in their political beliefs.  According to the Jerusalem Center for public Affairs, “An overwhelming majority of American Jews - 73 percent - describe themselves as moderate or liberal; 23 percent label themselves as conservative.”

Now you might want to be sure you are sitting down for this. There is actually a Jewish sect that is against the existence of Israel and they march with Arabs protesting the sovereignty of Israel to exist as a nation. Really! They call themselves the Neturei Karta and they believe that Israel can only come into being when the Messiah returns. Is it possible to be a Semitic anti-Semite? Actually, they aren’t against Jews, they are Jews, they are just anti-Zionists, so let’s not call them anti-Semitic (like I just did). They just believe that the true Israel can only be when Messiah sets up His government.

The Bible provides prophesies that anti-Semitism will crescendo in the last days resulting in planed attacks against Israel:

“Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem.  And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples…” Zechariah 12:2-3

“Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to Gog, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “On that day when My people Israel dwell safely, will you not know it?  Then you will come from your place out of the far north, you and many peoples with you, all of them riding on horses, a great company and a mighty army. You will come up against My people Israel like a cloud, to cover the land. It will be in the latter days that I will bring you against My land, so that the nations may know Me, when I am hallowed in you, O Gog, before their eyes.” Ezekiel 38:14-16

And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he was given authority to continue for forty-two months. Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, and those who dwell in heaven. It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation. Revelation 13:5-7

“I was watching; and the same horn was making war against the saints, and prevailing against them, until the Ancient of Days came, and a judgment was made in favor of the saints of the Most High, and the time came for the saints to possess the kingdom. Daniel 7:21-22

As anti-Semitism increases and does so to the point that it becomes ‘vogue’ or the cool thing to do, just know that this is one of many signs that the end is upon us—fast upon us. Anti-Semitism now will bring world support for war against Israel later. We can’t imagine that now, but by then, it won’t be a surprise. The Bible says that nations will turn against Israel to the point of attacking.

Here is the far-reaching promise God made to Abram from Genesis 12:3 “I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.” Nations that fail to bless Israel will be cursed. This is the warning to any nation that postures itself against Israel with contempt.

Are you ready? Is your family ready?
