The Astounding Intensity of Japan’s 8.9 Quake

According to Dr. Dave Applegate, senior advisor with the United States Geological Survey (USGS), Japan’s 8.9 Mw quake ruptured a path in earth's crust 150 mile long and 50 miles across. The amount of energy released was 30 times greater than 1906 San Francisco quake.
