A Bardino mix was sexually assaulted/NOT the dog from this story

According to Friday's Daily Mail, a dog, stolen from outside of a supermarket in Berlin, Germany, is believed to have been the victim of a devastating sexual assault.

The dog, a three-year-old Bardino-Galgo mix named "Kessie," had been left unattended, outside of the market last Wednesday while her owner shopped; the theft was noted after the 30-year-old woman returned to where the dog had been left.

Just a day later, the woman received a phone call from an animal shelter who had Kessie in their care.

Unfortunately, a perfectly happy reunion was not possible based on the findings of the shelter's veterinarian; Kessie had wounds on her abdomen that led veterinarians to conclude that the dog had been sexually assaulted by more than one person.

Though the dog is physically recovering from the attack, she and her guardian will surely need a considerable amount of time to get beyond the devastating, emotional scars from the assault.

The theft, and assault, have been reported to the authorities.  Examiner
