Sinkhole Tragedy Reported in Shenzhen, China

China Isolated Incident // Miscellaneous accident
SHENZHEN -- Local media reported that a 25-year-old man in Shezhen was killed after a sinkhole suddenly opened up and gobbled him. The victim was identified as Yang Jiabin. He was walking close to a construction site when he plunged into the eight-meter wide and 16-meter deep sinkhole that claimed his life, after attempts to resuscitate him failed. His final moments were captured by two closed-circuit video cameras. The video then went viral across China through news websites and on social media networks. Authorities have yet to determine what caused the sinkhole although local residents were quoted by media reports as saying that they had repeatedly raised complaints about tremors at the construction site, which is just a few meters from the spot where the sinkhole opened up. ubAlert
