New Immigrants Receive Israeli ID Right after Landing in Israel

The final 1,000 new immigrants for 2010, from 25 countries, will be landing in Israel in the next few days. Tuesday afternoon dozens of immigrants arrived from Russia and Kazakhstan, the immigrants received their Israeli identification cards as part of a special initiative of fast and efficient immigrant absorption initiated by the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption, the Interior Ministry and the Jewish Agency.

Specially organized by the Jewish Agency, the flights will be bringing new immigrants from many countries including France, Italy, Belgium, Great Britain, South Africa, the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Colombia, Ecuador, el Salvador, Spain, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Australia, Germany, Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

 Some of the flights and the reception of the new immigrants are organized in cooperation with “Nefesh B’Nefesh” and the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption.

 Immediately upon landing, the new immigrants will participate in the Jewish Agency’s “Aliyah on a Red Carpet” fair and will receive their Israeli ID cards. This is an innovative model of absorption providing under one roof a wide variety of services essential to the initial integration of olim in Israel.

 Chairman of the Jewish Agency, Natan Sharansky, said: “The new immigrants contribute to the strength of Israeli society and the strength of the connection between Jewish communities of the Diaspora and the State of Israel. Every new immigrant is a bridge linking his/her Diaspora community with their old-new land -- Israel. We welcome every new immigrant who has decided to come live in Israel and build their future and their children’s future here.”
