Midlanders Push For Stricter Bestiality Laws

MIDLAND, TX -- A group of Midlanders began a push for stricter bestiality laws in the State of Texas. The initiative started after video on social media alleged that a dog was sexually abused by a person.  The video claims the dog, Muffin, was taken to an animal shelter after the abuse and later put down.

After seeing the video, Tonya Allison and a lawyer decided to form the Facebook page Justice for Muffin which as of Tuesday had 985 likes.

“I was sad. I was disgusted. I was shocked,” Allison said.

But Allison said she wanted to turn the outrage into action.

“It just clicked in my head that there has to be something we can do about it. There has to be some way to reach out to lawmakers to have laws changed," Allison said.

Animal cruelty is illegal, but the social media page is calling for bestiality laws and for a harsher punishment.

“I have two little girls and my thought are, ‘If he is doing this to this animal could a child be next?’” Allison said.

Midland police say their report shows it was a dog that caused the injuries, but a veterinarian said the injuries were not likely caused by another dog.  EverythingLubbock
