Largest unreached people group is the Quechua-Apurimac

Peru (MNN) ― Prayer can make all the difference in our lives. Christ prayed constantly and showed us how we to pray. Hebrews 5:7 says, "During the days of Jesus' life on earth, He offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the One who could save Him from death, and He was heard because of His reverent submission." As Christians, prayer is our one-on-one connection with God, and we can go to Him with our petitions.

According to PIONEERS, the largest unreached people group in the Western Hemisphere is the Quechua-Apurimac. The population of the Quechua-Apurimac people is 278,000, and less than one percent of this people group has been evangelized. There is a large need for viable churches and missionary presence in the Antabamba, Cotabamas, and Aymaraes regions to bring the hearts of the people to Christ.

PIONEERS requests prayer that missionaries will be able to find and share Christ with the Quechua-Apurimac people. Pray specifically that a Quechua-Apurimac believer who is being discipled in the city of Arequipa will feel the call to share his newfound faith with others in his region. There is a need for cross-cultural missionary teams to join in reaching these people, as well.

The Quechua populate the western side of South America, running from Columbia down to the southern parts of Chile. Specifically, the Quechua-Apurimac group has settled in Peru, living in scattered villages around the Andes highland region.
