(TOKYO, JAPAN) — Japan's Meteorological Agency has announced it has upgraded the magnitude of Friday's catastrophic earthquake to 9.0.

Even before this latest revised reading the quake was already the biggest to hit Japan since record-keeping began in the late 1800s and one of the biggest ever recorded anywhere on the planet.

As it announced the upgrading of the quake level, the agency warned Sunday of more strong aftershocks that may come as the result of the big quake on Friday.

The U.S. Geological Survey measured the Japan quake at a magnitude of 8.9, and that number has not been changed by the agency.

Below is video from Aljazeera English of the Tsunami right after the quake as it struck in several areas of Northern Japan.
