Columnist claims Kissinger said: "In ten years there will be no more Israel."

Cindy Adams, who writes a gossip column for the tabloid New York Post, has quoted an anonymous source quoting the former Secretary of State, a Jew, as saying that the Jewish state would cease to exist within a decade.

"Reported to me, Henry Kissinger has stated — and I quote the statement word for word: 'In 10 years, there will be no more Israel.'

Someone in Kissinger's office denied he said so.  In the 1973 war, Kissinger was revealed to have told then-President Nixon that he should deny Israel urgently needed supplies and "let them bleed."

A better bet would be that in ten years there will be no more Kissinger.

Still, Kissinger contributed his own anti-Israel barbs. In an interview Thursday with the Washington Post, he said military action against Iran is an American decision, and he rejected Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s assertion that the US should set “red lines” for Iran’s nuclear program.

Kissinger told The Washington Post that the US should not make public statements that could be construed by “Israel or any other country as a justification for its going to war."

“We cannot subcontract the right to go to war — that is an American decision,” Kissinger said. As if that is what Netanyahu was requesting.

The statesman added, however, that the US must decide for itself what it’s willing to live with vis-à-vis the Islamic Republic. “We do need to define for ourselves, when we say that nuclear weapons are unacceptable, nuclear weapons capability is unacceptable; we need to know for ourselves what we mean by that,” Kissinger added.
