BHOPAL: The 38-year old serial killer and a suspected cannibal, Karan Singh who was arrested in the night of December 17, by a joint team of MP and Rajasthan police, has admitted of committing three murders, claimed cops of bordering state.

Singh is in judicial remand of 5 days with Rajasthan police.

The accused hacked three people to death in 10 days, on December 6, 13 and 16. He is suspected to have consumed blood and eaten body parts of the hapless victims whom he had killed.

"He has admitted to committing the murder of three people but is mum over cannibalism. However we have serious doubts and allegations that he had murdered other people as well, and investigations are on," station house officer of Nahargarh police station in Rajasthan' s Baran district, Bhanwar Singh Jadaun told TOI.

"Most of the times he is silent and stares blankly. Villagers have alleged that he had murdered his mother and consumed her blood. We don't have any evidence for it as of now," Jadaun said. His hideout was a machan - a platform erected on a tree in deep forest of Semra village where he was living for the last many years. "He also used to visit nearby villages and sought 'chapatis' from villagers. How and why he became what he is suspected, is under investigation," Jadaun said.

He used to consume raw meat of animals, Jadaun added. Singh allegedly committed his first murder at Guna's Rampuria village on December 6 where he killed one Hariram Baba, 45, while he was sleeping on a chaupal. He axed him to death.

Police were clueless about the case until a 32-year-old was found murdered at his farmland in Semra village on December 13. Semra village is located 8 km from Rampuria.TOI
