Bats and Bees and the End Times

People normally don’t think about bats, but something is happening to populations of them. Bees are also disappearing at alarming rates, and as much as the cause for both seems unidentifiable, there’s no sign of stopping it.

Let’s first take a look at what’s going on with bats:

The main reason we need to be concerned with the devastation of bats is the fact that they consume non-beneficial insects—you know, the ones we hate like mosquitoes.

Take one state for an example:

“We estimate that there may be 800,000 to a million gray bats living in Missouri," he says. "And doing the math out, that could lead to over 540 tons of insects eaten per year by just that one species in Missouri,” states Jeremy Coleman, national white-nose syndrome coordinator for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Without bats, those insects could become a costly headache for farmers.

“We are basically monitoring and watching one of the greatest population declines through disease that’s ever been recorded for a mammal species, and that is certainly of concern, to put it mildly,” says Coleman.

So bats are essential to farming and food, and a devastation of the bat population could lead to a devastation of the food production industry which leads to famine. That’s why we need to take notice. This is a sign of the end times.

Gardeners know the benefit of bees. Last year I had the most beautiful crop of squash, but the flowers kept dying without bees to pollinate them. I started hand pollination, but then finally mid-summer some bumble bees showed up and then things started to take off. Gardeners and farmers alike are worried about what’s happening to the bee populations. The cost to hand pollinate would raise food prices astronomically. The concern is also felt internationally.

If you read through the articles I’ve provided, you will find that blame is laid against all sorts of things from pesticides to parasites, but the articles also reveal that no one knows for sure the reason. If they really knew, they would work to fix it.

We do know that in the last days, especially during the tribulation period, famine becomes a way of life.

For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be famines and earthquakes in various places. Matthew 24:7

When He opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come and see.” So I looked, and behold, a black horse, and he who sat on it had a pair of scales in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.” Revelation 6:5-6

God is way ahead of us. From His book He paints a clear portrait of a direct correlation between a physical famine of food and a spiritual famine. We all know a spiritual famine creates the physical famine.

“Behold, the days are coming,” declares the Lord God, “when I will send a famine on the land— not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord. Amos 8:11

He also provides hope if we change:

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

We’ll know which direction this goes by watching bats and bees; signs of the end times.
